Rules - Game Play
In order to make this league last we have to play clean games.  We're all for good tackles and hard hitting but only in good taste.  Here are the rules that must be followed in order to play in our league.  Each team must appoint 1 team captain that will be responsible for his teams actions and the discipline of his players.  This team captain is responsible for making sure his team is wearing the appropriate colors, is on time, and has a home field that we are allowed to play on.
Time / Clock / Time Outs <back
The line judge ref will be in charge of the clock.  The clock will run continuous for 35 minutes and will only stop when:
  • Incomplete pass (under 2 minutes)
  • Timeout (2 per half)
  • After a TD
  • Change of Possession
  • Clocks will not stop for Penalties so don't argue them.
  • Play clock is 35 seconds.  You get 1 warning and then it's a 5 yard penalty every time.
Tackling Rules <back
  1. No head hunting or close lining.
  2. No pile ons.  If the player is down and you jump on the pile you will be asked to leave.
  3. If a players forward progress is stopped the play will be whistled dead by the ref.
  4. No tackling below the knees or with your head down.  If a player is running away from you and you need to dive to grab a foot that is OK.
  5. No leg whipping or tripping.
Blocking Rules <back
  1. No holding
  2. No clipping (blocking behind the back)
  3. No chop blocking (blocking below the waste)
  4. No hands to the face
  5. No Crack Blocks from WRs
Pass Rushing Rules <back
  1. No late hits on the QB
  2. If you have a blind side shot on the QB you must hit him high, Do not lower your shoulder into the QBs back if he can't see you.
  3. You may rush as many guys as you like and blitz whenever you want.
Receivers and DBs <back
  1. No holding
  2. No contact after 5 yards - (when player doesn't have the ball)
  3. DBs do not lead with your head on open field tackles. Do not fly into receivers make good form tackles.
  4. DBs may blitz but must obey the Pass Rushing Rules listed above.
  5. 1 foot in for inbounds and TDs.  If a player would have landed inbounds but is pushed out he is still in.
Player Conduct <back
Football is an aggressive mans sport but trash talking or fighting will result in the suspension of your team or you.  We will not tolerate any pushing or shoving after the play is over or any trash talk.  Play the game and we'll all have fun.  Act like an idiot and you'll ruin everyone's day.
Mercy Rule <back
If a team is leading by 7 or more points 5 minutes into the 2nd period a mercy rule will be applied. 
Line of scrimmage <back
The ball is not snapped so it is not on the ground to determine a "line of scrimmage".  You do have to obey the line of scrimmage or a play can be stopped or blown dead.  The Line of scrimmage is 1ft (12 inches) beyond an offensive linemen's hand or head (whichever body part is sticking out the furthest)
QB Cadence and Position <back
The QB can start from the Shotgun or behind the lineman.  He must be in between the 2 down linemen.  If the QB moves early (rolls before cadence) it's a 5 yard penalty.  The QB must be set just like the O Line and receivers.  Set Go is the cadence that must be used by all QBs.  Any audibles or line calls must be made before the cadence.  The cadence should have a rhythm of Settttt.............GO!  The QB can not be deeper then 7 yards.
Safety<back
There are no safeties.  If a player is tackled in his own end zone they get the ball on the goal line.
Reffing<back
  • Your team is required to Ref games when scheduled (2players).  It will be in the same location as your game either the game prior to yours or after.  Failure to perform ref duties will result in taking away a Win on your schedule and will count against your record for the playoffs.
    Refs will need
     - 1 flag each (red clothe wrapped around a super ball or a rock or something and tied)
     - 1 whistle each
     - 1 stop watch held by the line judge
     - Make sure there are yard markers
     
  • Refs need to:
     - blow plays dead when forward progress stalls
     - make holding calls (10 yards from the line of scrimmage not the foul)
     - call pass interference (NFL rules)
     - late hits, clipping, any unsportsmanlike conduct (15 yards)  Same player does it twice EJECT HIM!
     - stop the clock for change of possession and TDs.
Mandatory Attire
  • Team color required in order to play - You can't wear just Under Armor you need a Jersey, nothing skin tight.  You can wear underarmor under your jersey if you want.
  • Mouth Piece - Girls like teeth fellas don't be stupid.
  • NO METAL CLEATS!  If you see someone wearing them tell a ref!
