Theo Riddick knew that once "32 trap" was called in the huddle, there would be a very good chance that his backfield mate, fullback Kyle Jordan, would produce a touchdown.

And that's exactly how it played out as Immaculata turned back Ridge, 21-14, last night in Somerville with Jordan sprinting into the end zone with 25.6 seconds remaining to play.

The victory was Immaculata's 26th straight over a Skylands Conference opponent dating to 2005, when Warren Hills secured a 7-6 decision.

"I knew he was going in once he hit that hole,'' Riddick said of Jordan on the winning TD. "He smelled it. There's not too many people who can tackle him once he gets his shoulder down."

Jordan provided the heroics for Immaculata, No. 4 in The-Star-Ledger Top 20, but it was Riddick who dominated the game. The halfback, who verbally committed to Notre Dame, gained 219 yards on 33 carries, scored a touchdown, intercepted a pass late in the game and returned a kickoff 50 yards.

Riddick, who has been plagued with a sore ankle this season, has 406 yards rushing and five touchdowns in only three games.

"Whenever he gets the ball, he's a threat to score," Ridge head coach Tony Mottola said. "He's going to get his yards, but I thought our kids did a good job of wrapping him up."

Ridge drew even at 14-14 with 3:51 left in the third quarter when quarterback Ryan McGuirl found wide receiver Ryan Gerrity on a 15-yard slant. Nick Brown added the extra point. Ridge threatened on its first possession of the fourth quarter, but Riddick intercepted McGuirl at the Immaculata 42.

Ridge recovered a Jordan fumble with 4:12 left at its 5-yard-line, but could only advance it as far as the 21.

Immaculata then went 85 yards in six plays for the winning score. The key play was quarterback Adam Burke connecting with Jon Mack down the right sideline for a 38-yard gain on third-and 6 from the Ridge 41. Two plays later, Jordan scored his team-leading sixth touchdown.

"We had to find that extra step tonight," said Mack, who picked off McGuirl on the first play after Jordan's TD.

Mack, a transfer from Ridge, played a solid game, leading Immaculata with eight tackles. McGuirl ran the Ridge no-huddle to near perfection, completing 15 of 28 passes for 147 yards. Wide receiver Nick Cefalo caught five passes for 40 yards and a 14-yard touchdown pass and Scott Schachter had four catches for 42 yards.

Immaculata led, 14-0, on a Riddick 3-yard TD run and a 25-yard TD pass from Burke to Mack.

With McGuirl having the benefit of a cadre of receivers, Mottola's team proved it could keep up with one of the strongest teams in the state.

"We tried to pick up the pace and stay with them," he said. "To do what we did tonight against the No. 4 team in the state is pretty good. We put Ridge football on the map."
